Proper use and analysis of data is essential to successful publication. CNDLS supports faculty and graduate students through all phases of research and preparation for publication in any discipline that relies on data collection, organization, and analysis. Several projects such as the Shark Bay Dolphin study or the Third Language Acquisition project depended wholly on the team's ability to use and manipulate their data in various statistical software packages. CNDLS' resident statistician, Rusan Chen, Ph.D. in Quantitative Psychology, has extensive experience in statistical consulting in social science areas, including:

CNDLS also supports the Georgetown University Social Sciences Data Archive (GUSSDA), a project that provides faculty and graduate students assistance with archiving and managing data. GUSSDA is a system that provides readily accessible high quality "real world" data and related data management services to faculty and students for their research and teaching purposes. Specific services provided by the GUSSDA include:

• Data downloading from web or FTP sites
• Data distribution through CDROM media
• Data conversion to user requested formats
• Data merging and subsetting
• Analytical software selection
• Statistical analysis and model building
