What's New in Blackboard 8?
This workshop provides an overview of new features and enhancements in the Spring 2009 Blackboard 8 upgrade. It is for faculty who are already familiar with Blackboard. Topics include a re-designed grade center (formerly known as the Gradebook) and new self and peer assessment features. Instructors: Susan Pennestri, Peter Janssens, and Gorky Cruz.

Blackboard Basics
A broad introduction to Blackboard 8 for faculty who are new to Blackboard. The process of configuring a course site and making content available will be covered in detail. The workshop also includes an overview of Blackboard's student assessment tools, which will be explained further in the Assignments and Assessment workshops. Blackboard Communication Tools
An exploration of the asynchronous and synchronous communication tools in Blackboard, such as the discussion board and built-in email. Also includes an introduction to group creation and management and an overview of features available to groups. Instructors: Peter Janssens and Gorky Cruz.

Assignments & Assessment in Blackboard
An introduction to the test and grade management features in Blackboard 8. Blackboard allows instructors to dispense assignments and to create quizzes or exams that are integrated with the course gradebook, newly named the Grade Center. The Grade Center and the Student Performance Dashboard offer ways to monitor student progress. Participants will learn how to create assignments and tests and how to customize the Grade Center.
