The Apprenticeship in Teaching (AT) program is designed to enhance the preparation of graduate students as teachers. The AT program does not replace departmental teacher preparation courses, but can be incorporated into a larger curriculum of professional development. The program is not required, but all interested graduate students in both masters and doctoral programs are eligible to participate.
The AT program offers graduate students the chance to engage in authentic, teaching-related, typical faculty tasks with mentorship from current faculty and CNDLS professional teaching staff. These tasks are designed to give participants increased confidence and preparation for an academic position with teaching responsibilities.
There is no charge to students or their department to participate in the AT program. Graduate students at any point in their careers are welcome to participate in the AT program, although because of the number and variety of requirements, it is recommended that the student begin at least one year, and preferably two years, before graduating.

Students who wish to enroll in the program must prepare a Program Registration Form with their Director of Graduate Studies and submit it to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The Graduate School will provide CNDLS a copy of the completed form.
In order to receive a notation on the academic transcript, students must complete the following requirements:
Participants must finish the AT program within their graduate career to receive the transcript notation. When you think you have completed all the requirements, please email atprogram@georgetown.edu by the final submission deadlines to confirm your completion of the program.
